Billy Bat on his Golden Vine

Billy was born on 20th March 1997 after a three-month gestation period during which he evolved from a collection of narrow-gauge wire, chicken wire, newspaper, wallpaper paste, polyfilla, PVA adhesive, and acrylic paint.

Unlike his fellow Mediterranean Horseshoe Bats who leave their roosts at dusk to hunt low over warm hillsides with a slow fluttering flight pattern looking for moths and other insects, Billy is completely sedentary. In his early days he liked to roost on his papier-mâché-and-wire golden vine, but now he lives in Dave and Chris's sitting room in Bristol.
